NYFW Fall 2015 Trend Report

NYFW Fall Trend Report Video Recap

Attending New York Fashion Week has always been a dream to Michelle and I.  We both studied fashion in school and have worked in the industry for years, so when we were invited to attend a Fashion Week in both Miami and New York in the last year, we felt like we had practiced our whole lives and finally made it to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, Michelle was unable to attend this season, since she was in the middle of her move to LA but my sister stood in for her and we had a killer time taking on the city, the fashion and the food – minus the sub zero temps.Tre

Stand Out NYFW Trends for Fall/Winter 2015: If I had to sum up Fall of 2015, I would say The ’70s and they are coming back and in a big way. We are talking retro-glam bellbottoms, lace blouses, over the knee boots, platform mules and 70’s inspired hair. Fur was also everywhere we looked. Fur stoles, jackets with fur trim and luxurious fur coats in a wide array of colors. It looks like fringe is sticking around at least one more season as it pretty much showed up in every show we attended. A few colors to watch out for this fall are: blacks and whites, navy, neutrals with pops of bright yellows, and metallic hues. Pantone color of the year, Marsala, was seen heavily on the runways and our jaws practically dropped when Naomi Campbell walked out in that marsala gown at the Zac Posen show. Literally breath taking.

Favorite Shows: We attended a fair amount of shows during fashion week this season and most of them were up and coming designers that many people have never heard of, including myself. Anyone can see what Marc Jacobs or Micheal Kors is doing but not everyone gets to see the smaller brands getting their start. To me, seeing a new designer get a standing ovation at a show, gives me butterflies in my stomach, it feels like you are a on the brink of something big and that is why I love attending Fashion Week. A few designers that I think we should all keep an eye out for in seasons to come are: Ready To Fish, Saunder and Rubin and Chapelle.
