The hot and humid Summer weather has officially made its presence here in the DC area. Don’t get us wrong, we love the warmer weathers but it can be brutal and uncomfortable if your wardrobe and makeup bags aren’t prepared for it. We wanted to share our top 7 (5 + 2) Summer Essentials to help you get through the Summer in style. 1. Mirrored Sunnies: With a cool reflection, mirrored sunnies make for the perfect shades this summer. That and they are great for taking selfies! We are loving Illesteva, specifically this tortouise style with blue contrast mirrored frames which creates the perfect POC to any outfit. 2. The Perfect Tee: We have already preached how important it is to find the perfect tee, specifically for the Summer to throw on effortlessly. Enza Costa is one of our favorite vendors because they have successfully mastered the fit and fabrication of all their styles. This black and white striped tank with the pocket is perfect paired alone or layered for the cooler nights. 3. BF Jeans: Love the relaxed look of bf jeans which can be dressed up or down. Light Spring Layering

The sun finally made an appearance this weekend and we were very anxious to make our way outside. There were a few chilly breezes, so we were really feeling the layering pieces for this post. I always feel most confident when adding a blazer or leather jacket to an outfit to pull together a complete, effortless look which can easily be dressed up or down (depending on the shoes and accessories, of course.) We chose flats and a statement necklace as we took Louis on a walk before heading off to brunch to enjoy the weather. Pictured above- Jeans: Zara bf Jeans. Top: Enza Costa. Spring Trend Report: Art Pop

Designers took wearable art to a whole new level of loud for Spring 2014 using pop art patterns, brush stroked fabrics, and graphic prints to turn the dial at Celine, Christopher Kane and Prabal Gurung up to 11. Hopefully we can all justify the purchase of one of these “works of art” or “investment pieces” for our wardrobe, while most of us won’t be rocking these exact runway looks, they should inspire us all to be a bit more daring this spring. So don’t be afraid to go for that graffiti print, because no pattern is out of bounds for 2014. Spring 2014 Trend Report: Pastels

Another week has gone by and it hasn’t gotten any warmer in DC. Why is it that every time we sit down to write about spring, we get hit with another winter storm?? Maybe we are jinxing this whole spring thing, maybe it will never actually come our way. If it ever does decide to grace us with its presence then we suggest you look into adding pastels into your wardrobe. Pastels were all over the Spring 2014 Runways. Yes, that means you can finally pull out those gaudy easter outfits that have been haunting the back of your closet for years, Spring 2014 is finally their time to shine. When the snow finally melts you should expect to see lots of placid blues, violet tulips, warm hues of hemlock and shades of sand. All very easy on the eye and simple to add a piece or two into your wardrobe to give you an updated look for the warmer weather.. if it ever comes.
