Life has been a little crazy since taking on The Scout Guide Alexandria but in the best way possible. It’s been a refreshing change for me since most of my days previously were spent behind my computer in my home. Don’t get me wrong, I love blogging and having the luxury of working from home with my two puppies by my side but sometimes you need to get out and be around people!! For those of you who don’t know what The Scout Guide is, let me get you up to speed! The Scout Guide is a publication dedicated to living beautifully, living well, and living like an insider—wherever you are. We connect you with inspiration, as well as with makers and experts who can help you enhance your life, elevate your surroundings, and enjoy your community to the fullest. There are currently 60 publications in over 60 cities around the country and now the Alexandria guide is my very own baby! If you are visiting a new city, I recommend picking one up and using it as your city guide as you explore. There are so many great shops, restaurants, artists and more highlighted in each guide! TSG has […]

Let’s face it, Summer in DC is hot. Like super freaking hot. So the less clothing I can wear on these hotter than hot days the better. I am a huge fan of wearing dresses, especially in the summer because they look super chic, are easy to wear, breezy and most importantly they keep me cool. I am in love with this red off the shoulder number from Tuckernuck not only because it has me feeling like the red flamingo dancing emoji but because it is also super flattering and comfortable. The off the shoulder look is huge right now and I have found myself adding more and more of these styles to my wardrobe. Best part is that you can wear most of these styles off both shoulders or just one if you are feeling funky. I recently wore this dress during my first on air appearance on Let’s Talk Live DC where I mixed up 4th of July inspired cocktails. I was super nervous about my segment but having the right outfit that I felt confident and comfortable in really helped keep me nerves at bay. Ok, the cocktails helped as well. I also recently wore this look at our […]

Sarah is wearing: Zara Shift Dress, Zara Suede Knee High Boots, Hat, Phillip Lim Bag and Alexander McQueen Scarf. Zara has always been one of our top go-to shops for updating our wardrobe from season to season. Their pieces are classic, durable and look much more luxurious and expensive than they really are. It’s really all about how you put it together, how you feel in it and the confidence you exude when you wear an outfit you look and feel great in. Proof that you don’t have to break the bank to look flawless. It also doesn’t hurt that their online ordering is easy, their shipping times are super fast and returns are painless (super important when online shopping). We love to check out Zara and other brick and mortar retail stores whenever possible, but hasn’t online shopping become just a little too convenient? Our lives continue to get busier and busier and we find ourselves even ordering our cleaning supplies online (thank you Amazon Prime). When did we become too busy to step away from the iPad and drive to the store? Are we busy, lazy or just too spoiled that we demand everything be delivered to our […]

Every chance I get, I try to make a trip to the local farmer’s market on Sundays. I can’t think of a better way to start any day than walking the market tents and scoping out the produce, all while supporting small businesses and local farmers. My hubby and I really enjoy cooking together. It’s a creative outlet for us and sometimes it is the only bonding time we have with our crazy work schedules. During our visits to the farmer’s market, we find inspiration for planning our next meal while perusing all the local fruits and veggies that they have to choose from. That night we made zucchini spaghetti with fresh, homemade tomato sauce. So tasty! If you want to try out our sauce recipe you can find it here! For this Farmer’s Market trip, I thought it would be fun to dress that part 😉 Wearing- Overalls: Frame; Top: Intermix (old, similar here); Bag: Mulberry (old; similar here); Shoes: Superga xo Michelle
