Every few weeks I seem to fall deep into what I like to call a “hair rut”. I get bored or frustrated with my current look and want something fresh and new. I usually start texting my stylist, Ashley, around this time with different photos I have found on Pinterest of ideas I want to try. And since she is located in Warrenton, I usually can only make it out to see her once every 7 weeks. After studying Ashley’s techniques and filming multiple tutorials with her, I have started to catch on a bit more about how to style my hair but I never seem to achieve the greatness that I leave the salon with at home. Walk This Way in NTYLS

DC is known for many things; politics, tourism, museums and the overwhelming amount of events and receptions that occur on a daily basis. Living and working in DC we partake in many of these activities but as we have gotten older, we tend to choose a bit more wisely on what we actually attend. When an invite was passed our way to the Walk This Way fashion show to help raise awareness and money for Becky’s Fund, it was a no brainer that we would attend. The event was held to help raise funds for their “Men of Code” program, which helps educate and coach young male athletes about domestic violence in efforts to help them end violence against women and girls through training and mentorship that builds healthy relationships and leadership skills. The Walk This Way Fashion Show was held at the beautiful Italian Embassy where many famous athletes and celebrities walked the runway to raise over $200,000 for this amazing cause. We even saw some of our favorite Redskin’s players strut their stuff including Pierre Garçon, Kai Forbath, Chris Baker and Andre Roberts to name a few. Falling for South Moon Under

There are times when living and working in the big city can really wear a girl down. Sometimes you just have to get in your car, roll down the windows and head somewhere where the air is clean, the sky is big and the only traffic is a herd of cows crossing the road. For me, that place is my hometown of Warrenton, VA, a charming little town about 45 minutes (and a millions miles) west of D.C. Driving down the winding country roads is my stress relief. As the city fades in my rearview mirror, a sense of relaxation that can’t be found at the fanciest spa or yoga retreat washes over me. Warrenton is part of my heart and I am so blessed to have spent my formative years in such a beautiful part of our country. When I think of fall, I think of gold and auburn foliage, horses, wineries and, of course, plaid.
