Beyond The Runway: Miami Swim Week

We arrived in Miami early Thursday morning with great anticipation and a very packed schedule ahead of us. We wanted to take full advantage of our visit and take in all that Mercedez Benz Fashion Swim Week 2015 had to offer in the little time that we had. As soon as we unpacked our bags we were off to the Ford Artists Beauty Suite on the Venetian Lady yacht for makeup and hair styling hosted by the ladies behind the charity Style Saves. This was much appreciated after a rough, early flight. Our Ford makeup artist and hair stylist were phenomenal and we thank them for their amazing work and help getting us ready! Poko Pano kicked off MBFW with the very first show on Friday at The Raleigh Hotel pool. We all clinched on to our fans and drastically tried to keep cool in the blistering heat. Thankfully the show was a splash, literally, and we soon forgot about the heat and humidity and enjoyed the show and MBFW 10 Year Anniversary party and opening night event. Life’s A Beach

Outfit Detials- Top: Hazel, Denim Shorts: Citizens of Humanity (similar); Shoes: Tory Burch; Sunglasses: Ray-ban For Memorial Day weekend the hubby and I packed up the dogs and headed to the beach house we rented with friends for the summer in Ocean City, MD. Living in the DC area, it’s always nice to get away from the madness, get some much needed R&R, have a few brews, a bunch crabs and some rays at the beach. This summer I will be pretty much be living in my bathing suit and whatever else I can throw over it easily. I love this top by Hazel from South Moon Under, the appliqué detail on the front and the twisted rope t-style back make this casual top perfect for summer nights at the beach. I paired it with denim shorts and my favorite Tory Burch wedges to kick it up a notch for cocktails by the bay. If you are packing for a beach vacation this summer, keep it simple and comfortable. Mexican Weekend Wedding Adventure

Last weekend Casey and I took a quick trip to Mexico for a friends wedding. The trip there was less then pleasant, after our flight was cancelled but we got creative and somehow made it to the wedding by 6pm that night. The wedding was held on the island of Cozumel at The Palace Resort. The resort was nice, on the water and was all inclusive, so that meant all you can drink and eat..I think we certainly drank our moneys worth. After a few days at the resort we had to get out of the hotel and explore what the island had to offer. We rented a jeep, put the top down and cruised along the beaches. We had lunch at a restaurant called Coconuts that was located on top of a hill and had more amazing views then food. We stopped at one of the beaches along the way and took a dip in the crystal clear water and on our way back we stopped by a tequila factory and tasted all of the local tequilas (highly recommended).
