I love coming home from work after a long day to cook an intricate, gourmet meal made only with fresh ingredients that still meets my healthy standards, then enjoying the evening relaxing with my husband as we clean all the pots and pans. Ok, the truth is I would love to eat that gourmet meal and my husband and I do love cooking together, but making this a reality while balancing work, family, the blog and a social life leaves very little time to cook a nice dinner. And no energy to clean up. I can’t even seem to find the time to plan a meal, let alone cook it. I doubt that I’m the only one in this boat. We live in a fast passed society with deadlines and demands. The reality is, cooking a big meal is time intensive and time is precious. Everything has a trade off and convenience usually means heavily processed, packaged, pre-made meals. You can forget fresh ingredients. That’s what I thought until I stumbled across Klean LA, a premium meal delivery service. They deliver freshly made meals straight to your doorstep specifically with the purpose of weight loss, weight management and nutrition. It […]

Did you know that over half of all women wear glasses…crazy, I know. Donning a pair of glasses were literally teenage me’s worse nightmare. Oh how times have changed, now kids wear spectacles with faux frames! So, if over half of us ladies are required to wear some type of vision correction, then we better look good while doing so. We were introduced to SelectSpecs and were given the opportunity to try out a pair ourselves, and we were pleasantly surprised. Despite a large selection of designers, frames and styles to choose from the selection process was easy. Finding high quality prescription eyewear that looks great but doesn’t break the piggy bank can be quite difficult. Thanks to SelectSpecs large selection we can select multiple pieces that will give us the flexibility to match our looks/outfits. I fell in love with the Savannah style. It’s versatile with a fun, playful nerdy edge to it. They’re essentially an accessory to your outfit rather than a day to day necessity. If you happen to be a part of that above percentile and are looking for an update in your eyewear closet, then we encourage you to try out SelectSpecs. Add a few more fun, fashionable pieces to your selection […]

If you haven’t been yet, you will definitely want to roundup your girls and plan a girls night asap. We are talking about our favorite new spot here in DC, The Gryphon. The atmosphere is luxurious and the decor is inviting and energetic, which sets the stage for an epic girls night out. You can tell the owners really took the time and effort with each detail, from the eye catching signage outside, to the unique mounted griffin head decor. Their raw bar and dry-age steak room is beyond impressive and hands down beats out the neighboring competition which is why we had to spread the word! The Gryphon was top on our list when planning a recent girls night out because of their SUPPER CLUB feel and lively, upbeat environment. The DJ makes his appearance every Friday and Saturday night, which turns the place up a notch and transforms this fine dining restaurant into one of the hottest options for DC night life. After 12am the restaurant becomes more of a lounge with bottle service and dancing. So if you can hang past midnight, then they are there to keep the party going for you. They easily accommodate to private […]

Thanksgiving is a special day of the year when we gather together with family and close friends to celebrate each other and all that we are thankful for. It’s our family traditions that make this time of year so nostalgic and memorable. Grandma making her entrance with pecan pie in hand, Mom in the kitchen putting together her infamous creamy and buttery mashed potatoes, the nephews and nieces gathered around the table decorating Aunt Peggy’s sugar cookies. These are just a few of the family traditions that I look forward to each year that bring joy to my heart. The unfortunate part is that most of these also make my belly too full to enjoy the rest of the evening. I feel like a stuffed turkey myself! So for this Thanksgiving, we were looking to trim the fat but not the fun. Hoping to skip the unpleasant evening of indigestion, we thought we would try adding a healthy twist to our favorite recipes. Our goal was to look for dishes that opt for healthier ingredients and go lighter on the bad stuff, BUT most importantly, will still please a crowd and keep alive the traditions that make this day one we look forward to each year. For an appetizer we thought […]
