I know this is crazy, but I haven’t had my vision checked in over five years. My eyes rarely bother me and my vision has always seemed to be fine. However, it is recommended to get an eye exam annually, so I figured it was definitely time for me to get checked! I’m a busy lady, so quick and painless appointments are what I’m all about. I visited the Grand Opening of the new LensCrafters at Ballston Quarter. The associates there streamlined everything so it was seamless. I was amazed at the high-tech experience, and the assistant and optometrist I saw were both extremely professional and put me at ease. I’m not a fan of doctors’ visits, they always give me anxiety. However, with the immaculate new store design and the care of the doctor and the associates, this didn’t feel like a doctors’ appointment at all – more like a visit to a really chic boutique. The actual eye exam was a breeze. LensCrafters offers a digital eye exam that is efficient, but extremely precise and very thorough. It was so thorough that surprisingly, the doctor discovered a slight astigmatism in my left eye. An astigmatism is nothing harmful […]

If you haven’t been yet, you will definitely want to roundup your girls and plan a girls night asap. We are talking about our favorite new spot here in DC, The Gryphon. The atmosphere is luxurious and the decor is inviting and energetic, which sets the stage for an epic girls night out. You can tell the owners really took the time and effort with each detail, from the eye catching signage outside, to the unique mounted griffin head decor. Their raw bar and dry-age steak room is beyond impressive and hands down beats out the neighboring competition which is why we had to spread the word! The Gryphon was top on our list when planning a recent girls night out because of their SUPPER CLUB feel and lively, upbeat environment. The DJ makes his appearance every Friday and Saturday night, which turns the place up a notch and transforms this fine dining restaurant into one of the hottest options for DC night life. After 12am the restaurant becomes more of a lounge with bottle service and dancing. So if you can hang past midnight, then they are there to keep the party going for you. They easily accommodate to private […]

Anyone else feeling a little shocked that the holidays are just around the corner? It seems like just a hot minute ago we were sweating our buns off and laying by the pool and now we are prepping for Thanksgiving, then Christmas and New Years…yikes! This time of year is pretty nostalgic for us; we are actually able to unplug, unwind, eat home cooked meals and spend quality time with the people we love and cherish most. Another reason we can’t get enough of this season is for the plethora of holiday parties. There is just something about getting dressed up in your finest and heading out into the blustery night to attend a festive party that really gets us in that holiday spirit. And while we love attending these parties, we seem to always find ourselves scrambling to hunt down a frock at the last minute. This year we decided to break that bad habit and do a little planning in advance. We called up our friends at Ella Rue and asked them to scout out a few knock-out dresses for us with the holidays in mind. We chose the gorgeous Virginia countryside with an equestrian twist for this shoot knowing full well […]

When Sarah and Michelle told me I should contribute a post on fall fashions under $100, I thought, “Umm, well…like, actual good clothes that cost less than $100? Umm…” Which is not to say that I’m some rich snob who only wears $800 shoes. I don’t own any $800 shoes. C’mon, my last name isn’t Rockefeller! (And my husband reads this blog. Hi honey!) Ahem. So, no of course all of my clothes aren’t expensive, but I think I’m a savvy shopper: I find good deals, I tend to buy off-season items on sale and I never set out to shop for, say, a party dress. I see a dress that I love, I buy it and I find a party later. And I always find party worthy of a good dress. That said, I believe in investing in quality. When everything in your closet is well-made and looks good on, you always look good. So after I negotiated my baseline to $150….ish, I set out looking. I’m not going to insult our good readers’ intelligence by sending you to Forever 21 or Old Navy. You know they sell cheap affordable clothes. That tend to fall apart after a season. I’ve been […]
