Martasand A Night At The Arlington County Fair Funnel cakes, cotton candy and sugary lemonade are just a few reasons why we look forward to the county fair each year. It’s a time where we can throw our inhibitions out the window and indulge in all of the gluttony surrounding us. Living in walking distance of the Arlington County Fair makes it almost a cardinal sin not to visit the local staple on an annual basis. We started off with a fresh squeezed lemonade from the vintage-esque stand, it gave us just the sugar rush we were looking for and we were off to test the rides and games. The Evil Eye: More than just Jewelry

Since I was little I have always been fascinated with Greek mythology – mythical gods who ruled the world and used the Greek islands as their play grounds. Each story has a meaning or lesson, many of which I carry with me to this day. Naturally I was obsessed with the the Evil Eye pieces that I found from Carré Jewelry. The concept of the evil eye is widespread in Mediterranean countries, with its roots planted in ancient Greece. The purpose of the evil eye symbol, also known as the matiasma, is to ward off the effects of the evil eye. To “fight fire with fire” basically if ever an evil eye may fall on to you… I hope I’m covered in this department with the matching Lady Luck necklace and bracelet! Designer Spotlight: 52 Minutes with Marrin Costello

We were lucky enough to meet with rising jewelry design star, Marrin Costello and her fabulous director of marketing, Jaclyn McKethen in DC a few weeks back. After a few cappuccinos and lattes our energy started flowing and we got to talking about MARRIN COSTELLO as a brand, who they are and what they are striving for in this industry which places them apart from their competitors. We felt like little girls playing dress up in mommy’s jewelry box, trying on different pieces and lusting over the next one that caught our eye. However, this was real life and we were being styled and layered with jewelry by the designer herself! All of MARRIN COSTELLO’s attainable luxury pieces are designed and handmade in LA with love. Each piece we laid our hands on had the perfect mix of edginess while still feminine, which allows for endless possibilities with future outfitting! You can see in Marrin’s designs that she has an appreciation for genuine artistry and craftsmanship.
