Wide Open Spaces

Everyone needs their happy place, somewhere to unwind and recharge with minimal distractions. That place to my husband and I is his family ranch in South Dakota, Casey was lucky enough to grow up on a 4th generation working cattle ranch 45 miles from the closest stoplight. It’s rugged, beautiful and relaxing but also alive with livestock and wildlife at the same time. When he gets in the ranch truck and turns up the George Strait or climbs on his 4 wheeler and takes off across the open fields I swear he is a different person entirely. Being from a small town myself, I totally understand wanting to escape from the city every now and then. The traffic, the noise and the fast pace living can certainly get exhausting. So when our parents headed out on a joint vacation for a few weeks and the cattle needed taken care of we jumped at the chance to ranch-sit for 10 days. Ignition and The NYC Premier

It’s been one hell of a year. Michelle and I celebrated one year of blogging, attended our first New York Fashion Week, launched 52 Thursdays Consulting and attended our first Film Premier. And while we have had many great accomplishments this year there is no way we would be where we are with out our husbands. They are our photographers, our cheerleaders, our editors, they really help keep this whole thing going and we are so thankful to them for putting up with us! And while we have had an amazing year, I couldn’t let my husband’s even better year go un-noticed. While building an incredibly successful political media firm over the past 4 years and producing numerous award winning tv commercials, during the busiest time of his career he wrote a screen play that was produced into a short film called, ‘Ignition’. Casey’s short film ‘Ignition’, won the Volvo Cars-sponsored film contest that opened up the Jalopnik Film Festival held in NYC on November 5th and 6th. Volvo funded the project and our good friends at 8112 Studios did a beautiful job bringing life to Casey’s script. Beyond The Runway: Miami Swim Week

We arrived in Miami early Thursday morning with great anticipation and a very packed schedule ahead of us. We wanted to take full advantage of our visit and take in all that Mercedez Benz Fashion Swim Week 2015 had to offer in the little time that we had. As soon as we unpacked our bags we were off to the Ford Artists Beauty Suite on the Venetian Lady yacht for makeup and hair styling hosted by the ladies behind the charity Style Saves. This was much appreciated after a rough, early flight. Our Ford makeup artist and hair stylist were phenomenal and we thank them for their amazing work and help getting us ready! Poko Pano kicked off MBFW with the very first show on Friday at The Raleigh Hotel pool. We all clinched on to our fans and drastically tried to keep cool in the blistering heat. Thankfully the show was a splash, literally, and we soon forgot about the heat and humidity and enjoyed the show and MBFW 10 Year Anniversary party and opening night event. Virginia Gold Cup’s Finest

The Virginia Gold Cup races have been running since 1922 in Fauquier County, where I was born and raised, and are attended by over 50,000 spectators every year. The Virginia Gold Cup is one of those events that us locals anxiously await every spring; it’s the combination of good friends, horses, and a beautiful setting that get us all giddy for this annual occurrence. We carefully plan out our race day outfits, pull together the best tailgate decor and even craft the perfect cocktail to go along with it all. This year was one of the best Gold Cup races to date; the mint juleps were strong, the fashion was fierce and the weather was perfection.
