The Crossfit gym is my sanctuary. I look forward to going every day because I can feel myself getting stronger each time I show up and love the stress relief that it gives me after I’m done. For me there is no better feeling than laying on the gym floor after completing a soul crushing workout that leaves you gasping for air and thanking god that it is over. I guess you could say that I’m addicted to that feeling and that moment of accomplishment because it keeps me coming back for more every single day. But when is does it become too much? After coming back to Crossfit after an injury last summer, I made it my goal to get stronger so that I would never put my body in danger again. I started working out 3-4 days per week and then I gradually worked my way up to 6-7 days per week and then adding in 2-a-days 3 times per week. I certainly had become much stronger and it showed but did I go too far? After noticing that I was spending more hours of my day at the gym than I was at home or at work, I realized that […]

A vacation is a great excuse to leave your responsibilities at home, nothing feels better than turning off the emails and letting your phone go to voicemail while you sip pina coladas by the pool. Am I right? But there’s one thing that shouldn’t take a holiday, and that’s your health and fitness. Taking a week off from working out can throw you off your game, mentally and physically, and it makes it 10x harder to go back to your routine once you return home. Believe me, I have been there! Many people think I am crazy because I make working out such a priority when I am vacationing. Maybe I am crazy but I just find it a whole lot easier to stick with my workout program if I stay consistent. A few days/weeks off and I’m feeling lethargic in the gym or I may not even want to show up at all. So for me, it is much easier to get a few workouts in while I’m vacationing or traveling, so that it doesn’t throw everything off when I return home and back to my normal routine. That doesn’t mean you have to set aside an entire day during your vacation or even find […]

Working Out On The Road Keeping up with your fitness routine can be a challenge when on the road. You don’t have your usual facilities or all of your workout gear that you have become accustom to using with you, which makes things super inconvenient and why most of us take some time off from the gym when traveling. I usually take it easy when I am on the road as well but since I have been traveling more than usual lately, I have been trying harder to fit my workouts in so I don’t completely fall out of my workout regimen. Currently I am competing in the Crossfit Open, which is a competition where you compete against other Crossfit athletes, in your division, around the entire world. I am participating in the women’s 200 level scaled division, which has still been kicking my butt but I was determined not to sit out a round (15.3) while traveling in Israel this week. Casey and I found the local Crossfit gym in Tel Aviv, dropped in, did our workouts and were able to post our […]
