Soup season is here and I’m pretty excited about it. There is nothing more satisfying on a cold, chilly night than a homemade bowl of warm soup or chowder. It has become a weekly ritual in our household to try a new recipe and save our favorites. A pot full of soup in the fridge will feed us for days. It is a cost efficient and belly filling means to stay warm on cold nights. It all began thanks to my From the Farmer delivery and receiving two heads of cabbage, that’s a lot of cabbage! So I had to think of something to do with it… sauerkraut…kimchi… nope, both too complex. Due to a slam packed week and a limited window of opportunity I decided to go with soup – chop it up, add spices, cover. Too easy. Below is a basic, easy cabbage and potatoes soup recipe. The ingredients are simple and you can edit to your preference. This one pot soup is delicious and so easy to pull together. I went with the following: 2 tablespoons of olive oil 2 carrots, diced 2 stalks celery, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 6 cups vegetable broth 2 medium gold potatoes, diced 1/2 head large […]

Every day we find ourselves asking the same question…what to pack for lunch?? Whether you plan it the night before or make it in the morning, there just never seems to be enough time. To add to the stress of it all, we have to pack for our husbands and one day kids too?! Ahhh! As people say, “the struggle is real.” To help with that struggle we teamed up with nutrition expert and a personal friend of ours to help us find a healthy and pocket friendly routine for our busy lives.

After a long day of work the last thing I really want to do is make dinner and coming up with the dish is half the battle. We eat pretty healthy in this household and always try to make everything from scratch so we know what we are putting in to our bodies. The effort can be a little overwhelming and at times a lot of work having to plan and gather all the ingredients. Because of this we are always trying to come up with new easy dishes to make. I think I may have found my favorite effortless entree that I wanted to share! You can add and edit as you please but the two must have ingredients are chicken drumsticks and kale. For this recipe I added sliced carrots and onions but usually combine baby potatoes as well. What makes this plate so delicious is the chicken juice that is soaked up by the carrots, onions and potatoes and then baked creating a very flavorful and mouth watering dish. It’s so easy to whip up and throw in the oven for an hour while you do a quick work out video or enjoy a glass of wine or two. To each their […]

We just finished a 3 day juice cleanse at South Block Juice bar which has really helped me reevaluate what I eat and drink. That’s what I love about juicing, it helps break the cycle of dependence on saturated fats, refined carbohydrates, processed foods, and excess caffeine and alcohol. It truly has helped ease my food decision making while reducing my appetite which is why I wanted to share with you guys an easy, healthy and very delicious meal that I have been obsessed with since completing my juice cleanse. We call it…Fresh Sesame Tuna Salad! This is one of my favorite dishes that my husband and I came up with because it’s light and refreshing for warmer temperatures and will help you build and maintain that beach bod we are forever striving for. Sigh. I am not a big seafood fan, but have tried several big girl times to eat more fish as they are beneficial to our health. (Fish has Omega 3 which helps lower your blood pressure, reduces the risk of heart disease and Alzheimer’s and signs of Schizophrenia and Depression. Oh, and it also helps improve your skin and hair. Bonus points!) I believe that we came up with […]
