Your Guide To The DMV If you live in the DC area, you know that we have all the options when it comes to restaurants, shopping and services. With so many businesses to choose from, how do you find the best of the best when it comes to taking care of your necessities? Instead of searching high and low on the inter-webs, I’ve done all the dirty work for you. I’ve lived in the area for 8+ years and grew up right down the road, so you better bet I’ve experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to local businesses. Many of you have asked me for recommendations for my favorite nail salons, dry cleaners and more, so I thought I would put together a list of all of my favorite local spots in the area. Whether you just moved to town or if you’re looking for a new hair salon, I hope this list comes in handy in some way, shape or form! Groceries- Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Trader Joes, Peapod Grocery Delivery, Glen’s Garden Market, Streets Market & Cafe Healthy Meal Delivery – Territory Foods, Vegetable & Butcher, Mighty Meals Quick Lunches – Cava, […]

I’m a sucker for a good deal. Especially a designer deal. It doesn’t matter where or how I find it, if the price is right and it fits, chances are it is coming home with me. Many times I have absolutely zero intention of buying anything and then I will come home with an arm load of glorious finds. Lately this has been happening to me every time I set foot into Reddz Trading in Georgetown. I walk in with the prerogative to sell my old clothing, which I do, but then I walk out with a new piece that completely rocks my world. Obviously that is their plan and holy hell is it working. On my most recent trip to drop off my old duds, I found this Chloé eyelet dress (for under $100) and immediately snagged it before anyone else could. I was like one of those crazed brides at a warehouse sale – running to the rack to get my hands on “the dress” to call dibs first but only difference was there were no brides, no competition and no wedding dresses. I understand that this may come off as completely insane but I would be lying […]

It’s time to break out the flowery dresses, grandiose hats and mix an ice-cold mint julep, because horse racing season is here. Growing up in an equestrian family, I went to my fair share of horse races, frequenting Virginia’s Gold Cup and making a yearly family pilgrimage to Saratoga Springs, New York for the Travers Stakes. As a little girl, I loved going to the races to see the horses of course, but nearly as much I loved to take in the unique fashion that comes with race day. As the years have gone by, the thrill of picking winners and new dresses has only intensified. This weekend kicks off the Triple Crown with The Kentucky Derby. But if you aren’t headed to Lexington and are in the DC/VA/MD area then you still have the option to head to Virginia’s Gold Cup on Saturday and look just as fabulous. So whether it’s the Derby, Gold Cup or attending a race-day party, you will need to dress the part and I have a few style tips up my sleeve to ensure that you look hot-to-trot. If this is your first time attending a horse race, there are a few things you will need […]

Even though the weather has warmed up, it doesn’t mean you have to pack away all of your most loved leather pieces! I am a huge fan of styling leather and I try to incorporate it into my wardrobe, regardless of the season. Style your favorite pair of leather leggings with a muscle tee or a soft plaid top (like the Rails shirt I am wearing in these photos, so worth the investment!) and a pair of flat or heeled sandals and you have an edgy springtime look. When wearing a leather bottom, I usually carry my denim jacket so that I have something to throw on when it cools down at night. These J.Mendel leather pants have been a favorite of mine since I found them on sale at Ella Rue last fall and I haven’t been able to take them off since! I also have a super thin buttery-leather jacket from Vince that I wear religiously in the spring as […]
