Poets, Playwrights and Photographers have been trying and failing to capture the beauty of the Greek Islands for thousands of years. Mykonos and Santorini are islands that must be seen, smelled, tasted and experienced. I demand that everyone put them on your bucket lists and someday visit yourself but in the mean time I will try to pick up where the classics fell short and share the best, worst, the tame and the wild that we found in Greece, starting with Mykonos. The flight was AWFUL, my absent minded husband wrote the wrong date of departure on his calendar and when he got the check in reminder a day earlier than he thought we were to depart, we had a total freak out. But after a flurry of packing, rushing to the airport and making our flight by just a few minutes, we ended up sitting on the tarmac for over an hour before taking off, resulting in a missed connection in Amsterdam. KLM then inexplicably re-routed us through Geneva and eventually on to Athens where we had to re-purchase our tickets to Mykonos because our flight had already left us. And they lost my luggage. Grrrrrrrrrr.. KLM. Anyway when […]

Since I was little I have always been fascinated with Greek mythology – mythical gods who ruled the world and used the Greek islands as their play grounds. Each story has a meaning or lesson, many of which I carry with me to this day. Naturally I was obsessed with the the Evil Eye pieces that I found from Carré Jewelry. The concept of the evil eye is widespread in Mediterranean countries, with its roots planted in ancient Greece. The purpose of the evil eye symbol, also known as the matiasma, is to ward off the effects of the evil eye. To “fight fire with fire” basically if ever an evil eye may fall on to you… I hope I’m covered in this department with the matching Lady Luck necklace and bracelet! Dress: Elizabeth & James; Vest: Helmut Lang (Old Similar Here); Bag: Mulberry (Old Similar Here); Necklace: Carré, Marrin Costello; Body Chain: Marrin Costello; Bracelet: Carré; Ring: Carré; Shoes: Sigerson Morrison Belle (Old Similar Here). xoxo, Michelle

Can I say I love being married? Marriage has many perks of course but since I now have wifey status it seems I am now invited to a few more cool events with the hubby. Last week Casey and I were invited to an amazing private event at the new Greek restaurant Kapnos, owned by Top Chef Mike Isabella. The event was hosted by Time Warner Cable and let me tell you they went all out on this one, they even shut the place down for the night. The free flowing magical cocktails, the abundance of passed hors d’oeuvres, the five course family style dinner, and a wine pairing for each course made for an unforgettable evening. My favorite cocktail of the night: Mustachio: made with pisco porton, house made ginger beer, luxardo marachino, angostura bitters, lime Mike Isabella gave us a live demonstration on how to make the perfect spanakopita (spinach pie). I think I may attempt this at home, except the whole making my own phyllo dough part. That seems overly ambitious. Well as you can imagine we left a bit tipsy and about as full as you can get. The food was absolutely out of this world, if you love Greek food then you must […]
