I kid you not, the other week my husband implied that I should be wearing more “mom dresses”. My immediate reaction was that he wanted me to wear more girly dresses now that I am a mom, which offended me but then I got to thinking … what makes a “mom friendly” dress? Comfort (comes first), care (something that can with stand dirt, throw up, food, and whatever else comes its way) and of course cuteness because a cute dress next to a cute baby works well together. Right? So that day I was headed to Target like most moms on a weekly basis picking up the usual – diapers, wipes, and whatever other random stuff I can find that I don’t need – and for once had a shopping purpose for myself. I browsed the women’s section which I never do and came across the Who What Wear line. Some cute stuff but for the most part not my style until I stumbled upon this black dress with the cutest “girly” details for only $29! I was afraid it would come across like a moo moo but took my chances, purchased and I would say it was quite the success! I […]

Every girl needs a few multitasking LBDs in her closet. A classic work dress, a going out dress and a daytime frock. Since I’m a lover of all things black, I I have quite a few of each and they are constantly on rotation. Whenever I’m unsure of what to wear to a specific event or meeting, my fall back is always an LBD. You don’t have to over think it, just pump up your accessory game a bit and you have a killer look. I love this free flowing dress by Australian label Delphine because I can practically wear it anywhere or to pretty much anything. It has a high crew neck and features loose, gently ruffled sleeves that flare out flatteringly. It falls straight to a drop-waist mini length, finishing with a high-low ruffle to match the sleeves. It has been a go to of mine for day time meetings, weekend brunches, and going from the beach to cocktails. It also comes in real handy after you consume one too many tacos and margs. It’s a multitasker!! Shop this LBD and a few of my other faves below.

So … It’s December and temps are just now dropping in to a consistent high of 60 degrees. This means I don’t have to wear your typical winter clothes, at least not just yet. This also means this little black dress from South Moon Under has been on a serious repeat. I have been pairing this effortless LBD with my favorite over the knee boots to give the look a bit more of a “colder weather feel”. Now don’t get me wrong, once the sun sets the temperatures drop here in LA and that’s when I can enjoy my cool, brisk nightly walks with the fur baby and hubby. It’s my favorite part of the day. Throw on a leather jacket, blazer or coat with my dress and I’m set for the evening. It’s my go to piece for ease and comfort in the most stylish way. Wearing: Dress (South Moon Under); Hat (Sole Society); Boots (Jean-Michel Cazabat); Bag (Henri Bendel); Sunglasses (J.Martasand); Bracelets (Proenza Schouler & Hermes) Photography by Felicia Lasala Xo, Michelle

Do you ever find yourself wondering where the time has gone? I have found this happening a lot to me recently. Either I’m too focused on my consulting work, working on growing my business or traveling for the blog that I sometimes forget about important things going on in my life. I have forgotten to pick up the milk numerous times at the grocery store, was two months late getting my car inspected and have been late sending out wedding and baby shower gifts. All things that are absolutely inexcusable! Work is important but so is life and being present during it. I don’t want to wake up in 5 years and realize that I missed out on some of the most important years of my life. These are things I have been struggling with since I decided to go full time working on 52 Thursdays Consulting and hoping that I will find that happy work/life balance soon. That means taking time off on the weekends, stopping work at a decent hour and putting my phone away whenever possible. I’m not saying this all will happen over night but I am a work in progress and hoping that my efforts will help make […]
