I do a lot of shopping online but shoe shopping is something that I try to go to an actual store for. Whether I’m looking for a killer pair of heels or a comfortable pair of sneakers, it’s essential to try them on to make sure they fit perfectly. Comfort used to be the last thing I looked for when buying shoes, if they looked good on, then they were coming home with me. After years of wearing painful shoes in my twenties, my priorities have changed when it comes to shoe shopping in my mid-thirties. And that doesn’t mean I’ve given up on fashion all together..please…I just am more conscious of what I buy. When it comes to comfortable shoes, Comfort One is a staple, in the DC area. Their service, selection, and style makes them an industry leader and I love that they are locally and family owned. I dropped into their newly remodeled store in Old Town to check out some fall boots and was given the full Comfort One treatment. Their staff was very knowledgeable and also led me through a state-of-the-art foot scan to show me where my pressure points were and to recommend the […]

When I went back home last month I had the opportunity to embrace the change of seasons which I had been missing out on in LA. Rain, foliage and lots of cold weather, I got it all. Well … I spoke too soon clearly because it has been raining cats and dogs this whole week with chilly weather that this part of California rarely sees. El Nino has made its presence and I’m loving every minute of it. And with rainy days, comes rain attire. I love boots that are trendy and fashionable but still serve a purpose of what they were originally designed for … protection. These Cat boots have held up their end in mud, dirt and rain. Haven’t had the pleasure to stomp around in snow yet but maybe an upcoming ski trip will change that. Stay tuned 😉 Click the links below to shop the full look and how I dress for El Nino. Wearing- Top (Enza Costa); Vest (Yves similar here); Denim (Frame); Boots (CAT footwear) Xo, Michelle

Do you guys remember a few years ago, when everybody—no, literally everybody—was rocking the Juicy Couture velour tracksuit? You know what I’m talking about? The one with “JUICY” emblazoned on the backside? That is, if you were “hip” enough to grab the original. Later the trend came to encompass bottoms that advertised “PINK,” “RUTGERS,” “ED HARDY” or assorted other brands on the asses of America. That tracksuit was fashion poison, and of course I had one two a few. In assorted colors. That I wore with Uggs. Because of course I did…and when I walked down the street I felt in style, trendy, hip—generally awesome. Until I one day I realized that, regardless of how “in” they were and what celebrities were wearing them, velour pants looked awful on me. Especially, (but not exclusively) velour pants that could comfortably fit five 4-inch tall letters with room to spare across my rear end. But if we’re honest with ourselves, that happens every season, right? A trend catches fire and produces the “it” item. Before we know it, some sort of noxious fashion fumes overcome us and we find ourselves obsessed with buying something that is so in, so on-trend, that we forget to think about whether […]
