Long vests have been around for some time now, but they have finally become a staple piece on both the streets and the runways. After seeing them practically everywhere, I decided I should give it a go myself. I had been eyeing this long vest from Top Shop for a while but was struggling with how I would style it into my everyday wardrobe. After some contemplation, I finally realized that I had to take the blush-beauty home with me and ever since I have had some serious fun with it. I have found that there are endless ways to layer a long structured vest with what you are already wearing. And let’s face it, since mother nature has decided to skip spring altogether and head straight into summer, the last thing we will be wanting to wear is something that has sleeves. Black + White: Holiday Dressing with Ella Rue

Anyone else feeling a little shocked that the holidays are just around the corner? It seems like just a hot minute ago we were sweating our buns off and laying by the pool and now we are prepping for Thanksgiving, then Christmas and New Years…yikes! This time of year is pretty nostalgic for us; we are actually able to unplug, unwind, eat home cooked meals and spend quality time with the people we love and cherish most. Another reason we can’t get enough of this season is for the plethora of holiday parties. There is just something about getting dressed up in your finest and heading out into the blustery night to attend a festive party that really gets us in that holiday spirit. And while we love attending these parties, we seem to always find ourselves scrambling to hunt down a frock at the last minute. This year we decided to break that bad habit and do a little planning in advance. Falling for South Moon Under

There are times when living and working in the big city can really wear a girl down. Sometimes you just have to get in your car, roll down the windows and head somewhere where the air is clean, the sky is big and the only traffic is a herd of cows crossing the road. For me, that place is my hometown of Warrenton, VA, a charming little town about 45 minutes (and a millions miles) west of D.C. Driving down the winding country roads is my stress relief. As the city fades in my rearview mirror, a sense of relaxation that can’t be found at the fanciest spa or yoga retreat washes over me. Warrenton is part of my heart and I am so blessed to have spent my formative years in such a beautiful part of our country. When I think of fall, I think of gold and auburn foliage, horses, wineries and, of course, plaid. We hit the vintage jackpot when we came across DC’s premier luxury consignment shop, Ella Rue. The fabulous ladies of Ella Rue have an impeccable eye for collecting both vintage and modern pieces and it shows the second you walk into their store. They know what their customers want and they know how to supply it with the help of fabulous consignors from across the country. Ella Rue is located in the heart of Georgetown and they have grown leaps and bounds since they opened their doors in November of 2010. These fun and energetic ladies will have you hooked, whether you are looking to consign or buy. The sisters behind Ella Rue, Krista and Alexa really take pride in what they do, which is why we wanted to showcase our favorite fall looks from their shop.
