I do a lot of shopping online but shoe shopping is something that I try to go to an actual store for. Whether I’m looking for a killer pair of heels or a comfortable pair of sneakers, it’s essential to try them on to make sure they fit perfectly. Comfort used to be the last thing I looked for when buying shoes, if they looked good on, then they were coming home with me. After years of wearing painful shoes in my twenties, my priorities have changed when it comes to shoe shopping in my mid-thirties. And that doesn’t mean I’ve given up on fashion all together..please…I just am more conscious of what I buy. When it comes to comfortable shoes, Comfort One is a staple, in the DC area. Their service, selection, and style makes them an industry leader and I love that they are locally and family owned. I dropped into their newly remodeled store in Old Town to check out some fall boots and was given the full Comfort One treatment. Their staff was very knowledgeable and also led me through a state-of-the-art foot scan to show me where my pressure points were and to recommend the […]

My Old Town Alexandria Staycation Guide I’m all about a staycation, especially one that involves my husband and two rescue mutts. Sometimes its just nice to get out of the house, away from the gazillion projects you have in front of you and the list of chores you haven’t gotten to either. No need to stress about the laundry that needs to be folded or the lawn that has to be mowed, instead it’s all about spending quality time together. After being on the road and away from our pups for most of the summer, we were stoked to check in to the brand new Hotel Indigo in Old Town Alexandria with our fur children. We had heard amazing things about the new hotel and we had been dying to check it out and it exceeded our expectations and then some. From the moment we set foot in the door to the time we left, we were treated with the upmost care. The staff was super helpful, kind, and attentive. Our room was impeccably designed and the views of the water front weren’t half bad either. After we settled in and Hank made himself at home and we quickly headed […]

Ok I’m not quite going gray, at least I hope I’m not but who really knows when I highlight my hair as often as I do. But I think I’m better of being oblivious to the situation. The real reason for this post is to delve into my addiction to the color gray. I realized I had a borderline obsession with collecting clothing in the moody hue when I bought my 12th gray sweater. I’m pretty sure 11 gray sweaters would have been plenty. But when you have two dogs (1 white and 1 black) that shed like it’s their business, the only color I can realistically wear without looking like the crazy dog lady that I am is the color gray. This is also why we own a gray couch, a gray comforter, and a gray dog bed. Not only is gray practical for my life, I also love the way it looks against tan skin and blonde hair. Another reason why I am constantly collecting things in the shade of gray. This new gray form-fitting dress by Splendid has been my go-to for nights out this winter. It’s simple, fits like a glove and also has a bit […]

April is a strange month, mostly because I was born in it but also because of the crazy weather it brings. During this wacky month here in VA we have experienced snow, 90 degree weather, a boat load of pollen flying around and a decent amount of rain. Luckily I have an app on my phone that wakes me up with the weather and a humidity count each day, otherwise I would be completely lost when trying to get ready in the morning. Depending on the day or what I have going on, I always carry my new Barbour rain coat with me. Because no matter what, showers could occur at practically any moment. I am absolutely in love with this little jacket because it repels rain, is super light, has huge pockets to keep all my stuff and is beyond cute. I have worn it with a preppy little outfit like pictured in this post, with jeans and heels and even over my workout clothes when it decides to pour down rain. Regardless of the situation, I have not left the house without this handy coat since it arrived on my doorstep from Tuckernuck and I’m pretty sure it won’t […]
