A Trip Down 95 to RVA

My husband and I took a trip down 95 to RVA to met up with some old college friends for the weekend. That, coupled with the fall weather, had me reminiscing about those care free days when I would throw on a college hoody, skinny jeans and a pair of Uggz. Yes, I know how cliché that is and I’m not going to lie…I still own a pair and still wear those Uggz when I walkthe fur-baby below 30 degrees. Don’t judge. Well as I mentioned, the overcast skies, scattered showers and brisk, cool weather in Richmond made for perfect cozy, sweater weather. My favorite go to in the fall now is a silk or denim button down shirt layered under a chunky knit sweater. This simple combo creates an effortless element to any fall look and if the weather brings a surprise warm up, you just shed a layer! I added my new joie crepe joggers to complete the look which was perfect since they are incredibly comfortable and perfect for weekends like this. Shift-Work

This spring we are loving neutral and soft shades that are easy on the eye and easy to wear as well. Living in the DC area we lead pretty busy lifestyles; from going to work, straight to a dinner meeting/happy hour and sometimes we don’t get home until 10pm and we are ready to crash! On long days like these we opt to wear something chic yet comfortable; may we introduce you to the almighty shift dress. Shift dresses are perfect to wear during the warmer weather and can easily go from day to night with a quick change of shoes and accessories. Shift dresses have been popular since the 60’s and still are to this day due to their loose fitting and forgiving silhouettes. Be sure to find one with the right length as some shifts can be unflattering and overwhelming if too long but easily fixed with a simple hem. Behind The Scenes with Marrin Costello

Last week one of our absolute favorite jewelry designers, Marrin Costello, came to town and we played dress up in her jewels and chatted over lattes. We were over the moon excited that Marin made the trip all the way from LA to meet us, after numerous emails and phone conversations about collaborating/possible world domination. Behind The Scenes with The Sisters of Catherine G. Damewood Purveyors of Fine Florals & Design

A few months back I had the opportunity to go behind the scenes to capture the talented photographer, Kristen Finn, in action while she shot our good friends Meggie Galvan and Catherine Damewood of Catherine G. Damewood Purveyors of Fine Florals and Design. It was a rainy day in Middleburg, but it was all smiles inside the lovely boutique Patina, where the shoot took place. The gorgeous antiques on display provided the perfect setting to showcase the original floral arrangements by Meggie and Catherine. These sisters are truly talented and have become increasingly busy since launching their business in late 2013. The Purveryors are based out of Loudoun County, VA and have been creating quite a buzz with their unique floral arrangements that can be seen at some of the most exclusive weddings, events and parties in Northern Virginia. Now that they have taken the floral industry by storm, the sisters’ next phase will be offering high-end vintage rentals to their clients in 2014 and that’s something we are very excited about at 52 Thursdays.
