Anyone else feeling a little shocked that the holidays are just around the corner? It seems like just a hot minute ago we were sweating our buns off and laying by the pool and now we are prepping for Thanksgiving, then Christmas and New Years…yikes! This time of year is pretty nostalgic for us; we are actually able to unplug, unwind, eat home cooked meals and spend quality time with the people we love and cherish most. Another reason we can’t get enough of this season is for the plethora of holiday parties. There is just something about getting dressed up in your finest and heading out into the blustery night to attend a festive party that really gets us in that holiday spirit. And while we love attending these parties, we seem to always find ourselves scrambling to hunt down a frock at the last minute. This year we decided to break that bad habit and do a little planning in advance. We called up our friends at Ella Rue and asked them to scout out a few knock-out dresses for us with the holidays in mind. We hit the vintage jackpot when we came across DC’s premier luxury consignment shop, Ella Rue. The fabulous ladies of Ella Rue have an impeccable eye for collecting both vintage and modern pieces and it shows the second you walk into their store. They know what their customers want and they know how to supply it with the help of fabulous consignors from across the country. Ella Rue is located in the heart of Georgetown and they have grown leaps and bounds since they opened their doors in November of 2010. These fun and energetic ladies will have you hooked, whether you are looking to consign or buy. The sisters behind Ella Rue, Krista and Alexa really take pride in what they do, which is why we wanted to showcase our favorite fall looks from their shop. Knowing the array of styles and designers we would have to choose from didn’t hurt either! We really wanted to challenge ourselves and decided to showcase our favorite vintage/fall looks with a menswear twist. Martasand A Night At The Arlington County Fair Funnel cakes, cotton candy and sugary lemonade are just a few reasons why we look forward to the county fair each year. It’s a time where we can throw our inhibitions out the window and indulge in all of the gluttony surrounding us. Living in walking distance of the Arlington County Fair makes it almost a cardinal sin not to visit the local staple on an annual basis. We started off with a fresh squeezed lemonade from the vintage-esque stand, it gave us just the sugar rush we were looking for and we were off to test the rides and games. A Weekend at The Saratoga Races

Saratoga will forever hold a special place in my heart, it has been an annual vacation spot for our family since I was a baby and it is also the place where Casey and I got engaged two years ago. I grew up in a horse loving family, so it is only natural that our family vacation would be centered around an equestrian event. Saratoga Springs, NY has so much charm and character behind it, from the historic homes to the natural springs and everything in between. I am sure you have ordered one of those blue bottles of sparkling water sold at your local restaurant, if you have then you have had a taste of Saratoga (literally). The race season at the Saratoga track starts in late July and runs six days a week through the end of August, which makes for the perfect time to visit to escape the southern heat.
