Online shopping, we all do it because it’s convenient, takes a click of a mouse and your shiny new treasures are on the way. I’m as guilty as anyone, because I do my fair share of point and click shopping but what if that was our only option? What if you could no longer stroll the charming streets of your town on a Saturday or pop into your favorite local boutique for a dress for an event you have that night? What if your home town was filled with nothing big box stores and Amazon pick up locations? That could soon be our reality if we don’t make a change. In the last year, we made a few big changes of our own. We moved from Arlington to Alexandria, Virginia and I bought a new business, The Alexandria Scout Guide. While the move was only 15 miles away, it feels like an entirely different world. We loved the close proximity to dc, the airport and our friends’ houses but the temptation of more land and a peaceful retreat to call our own was much more enticing to us at this point in our lives. Little did we know we would […]

I do a lot of shopping online but shoe shopping is something that I try to go to an actual store for. Whether I’m looking for a killer pair of heels or a comfortable pair of sneakers, it’s essential to try them on to make sure they fit perfectly. Comfort used to be the last thing I looked for when buying shoes, if they looked good on, then they were coming home with me. After years of wearing painful shoes in my twenties, my priorities have changed when it comes to shoe shopping in my mid-thirties. And that doesn’t mean I’ve given up on fashion all together..please…I just am more conscious of what I buy. When it comes to comfortable shoes, Comfort One is a staple, in the DC area. Their service, selection, and style makes them an industry leader and I love that they are locally and family owned. I dropped into their newly remodeled store in Old Town to check out some fall boots and was given the full Comfort One treatment. Their staff was very knowledgeable and also led me through a state-of-the-art foot scan to show me where my pressure points were and to recommend the […]

I am so excited to be partnering up with Alexandria, VA boutique and design house, TSALT, to host their Fall Open House this Thursday from 6-9pm. Come out and enjoy light bites and sips while you shop their new fall merchandise! I styled four looks, that will be on display during the party, with some of my favorite fall pieces from TSALT. I fell in love with everything in the store, so it was hard to narrow it down to only four outfits, and I’m not even including the looks featured in this post! But what makes TSALT so unique is that they not only have one of the best selections in town (and for every budget), but they also design custom pieces right inside their store! Being a fashion graduate myself, I was drawn to TSALT because they are creating beautiful, one of a kind pieces at affordable price points just upstairs. Which also means they can alter and custom design anything to fit their clients perfectly. So if you struggle to find clothing that actually fits or you just need to update your fall wardrobe you have to come check out TSALT! Come on in and let me help […]
