We hit the vintage jackpot when we came across DC’s premier luxury consignment shop, Ella Rue. The fabulous ladies of Ella Rue have an impeccable eye for collecting both vintage and modern pieces and it shows the second you walk into their store. They know what their customers want and they know how to supply it with the help of fabulous consignors from across the country. Ella Rue is located in the heart of Georgetown and they have grown leaps and bounds since they opened their doors in November of 2010. These fun and energetic ladies will have you hooked, whether you are looking to consign or buy. The sisters behind Ella Rue, Krista and Alexa really take pride in what they do, which is why we wanted to showcase our favorite fall looks from their shop. Knowing the array of styles and designers we would have to choose from didn’t hurt either! We really wanted to challenge ourselves and decided to showcase our favorite vintage/fall looks with a menswear twist. Behind The Scenes with The Sisters of Catherine G. Damewood Purveyors of Fine Florals & Design

A few months back I had the opportunity to go behind the scenes to capture the talented photographer, Kristen Finn, in action while she shot our good friends Meggie Galvan and Catherine Damewood of Catherine G. Damewood Purveyors of Fine Florals and Design. It was a rainy day in Middleburg, but it was all smiles inside the lovely boutique Patina, where the shoot took place. The gorgeous antiques on display provided the perfect setting to showcase the original floral arrangements by Meggie and Catherine. These sisters are truly talented and have become increasingly busy since launching their business in late 2013. The Purveryors are based out of Loudoun County, VA and have been creating quite a buzz with their unique floral arrangements that can be seen at some of the most exclusive weddings, events and parties in Northern Virginia. Now that they have taken the floral industry by storm, the sisters’ next phase will be offering high-end vintage rentals to their clients in 2014 and that’s something we are very excited about at 52 Thursdays. Throwing a party this New Years Eve and having trouble thinking of creative cocktails to serve? If so, I have you covered. My husband found this little gem when he was back home and was amazing enough to share with me. So now I am sharing with you.. I present to you The Calvert Party Encyclopedia, published in 1965. The book is full of vintage cocktail recipes, quirky hors d’oeuvres and party ideas for any occasion. I thought since New Year’s is upon us, I would share with you the champagne cocktails and a few of the hors d’oeuvres.
