Ojai Valley: A Piece of Heaven

Ojai Valley: A piece of heaven

I found a little piece of heaven and it just so happens to be tucked away in the valley of Ojai, the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa to be exact. Only an hour and half outside of LA, this gem is easy to get to and with its serenity and Spanish style architect you will think you are vacationing in another country.

Hubby, fur baby, and I packed up for a two night stay at this gorgeous resort for a little R&R and quality time. First, we took a little tour via a golf cart as soon as we arrived to become acclimated with the property and it’s history – there is so much to do there. (I would recommend a longer stay than our 2 days in order to take in all the beauty.) We took it easy on the first day and just relaxed on the terrace as we watched the “pink moment” take over the skies above the mountains.

The next day we woke up early and visited the spa to try out Peace In A Pod. It was so relaxing and rejuvenating to get our eventful day started. After the spa we went for a run outside, which was quite scenic, followed by a quick gym session. Once we got cleaned up, we laid out by the pool just soaking in the sun and gorgeous weather.

I was so excited about our Tee Off time that day as I had never played a full round of golf and the course looked so beautiful. Fun fact #1, Ojai Valley Inn was originally built as a country club in 1922 and soon became the resort that is today. They have also held 7 Senior PGA Championships on their course as well. I may never shoot a low score in my lifetime but I did hit a few good balls and had a blast driving the cart up and around the rolling hills.

We ended our evening with some fine dining at Olivella, one of the newest additions to the resort. I recommend the lobster or the bolognese. Absolutely phenomenal, chef Andrea Rodella is a genius. We ended our evening with a drink in the original club house now called Wallace Neff Heritage Bar. Fun fact #2, they still have the same floor and beams from 1923.

It was really hard to leave Ojai Valley Inn but I made sure to get in one more dip at the pool before we departed. I could spend all day of everyday poolside, so the hubs had to drag me out of the chaise to finish packing, meanie!

We are already planning to come back soon and this time we’ll definitely be staying longer! They have done an amazing job at creating their own slice of heaven, comfortably nestled right in between two mountains for the most relaxing and re-charging get away.

We’ll be adding a gold star next to Ojai on our California to-vist bucket list!
