When it comes to anti-aging products, I’m willing to test it all. The older I get, the more I kick myself for not taking better care of my skin when I was younger. In my twenties, all I cared about was being tan and skinny and I didn’t think much about what consequences my decisions would have on my body in the long run. Now, in my mid-thirties, my priorities are much different, and my health and my skincare routine are top on my list. We all know by now that sunscreen is a must in your daily routine but is there actually a way to correct the damage you’ve done in the past without invasive injections or laser treatments? The answer is YES. The skincare market is completely saturated with products and companies claiming they will “turn back time” or “stop aging in its tracks”. Which leaves us, the consumers completely confused wondering who is actually telling the truth. Since becoming a blogger, I’ve been able to test out hundreds of products. Some have been complete crap with a select few that I swear by and re-order on a regular basis. Most of these products we won’t even waste […]

When it comes to my skin there are two people I trust, my dermatologist and Sarah Akram. Working in this field, I’ve been blessed with many invitations to local spas to try out treatments. While they are all relaxing and most of them have been wonderful experiences, I’ve never walked away with results like what I see when I leave Sarah Akram’s office. There is so much noise in the skincare field telling us what treatments we should be doing, what injections to get and what products you need to be slathering on our faces so it’s very important to find someone you trust with your skin. After trying and testing out most of the top spas in the area, it’s safe for me to say that I think that Sarah Akram is the best in the DMV, if not the entire country. Not only because you see major results when you leave but it’s because she listens to your skincare concerns and personalizes your facial to YOU! She’s a huge believer in preventative maintenance and says with monthly facials (like the ones she gives) you won’t even think twice about getting botox. Sarah has figured out a way to […]

My Skincare Journey – Lasers For Anti-Aging Aging sucks. It’s as simple as that. Being in my mid-thirties, I can see that my skin is starting to noticeably change and it’s really starting to freak me out. Those dreaded fine lines and wrinkles are not only starting to appear but it looks like they are trying to settle in for a nice long stay. I’ve tried every cream, serum, and potion under the sun but nothing has ever lived it up to its promises. And thanks to my pure ignorance and disregard for taking care of my skin when I was younger (read more about that here), here we are. So instead of taking the backseat and continuing to complain about my new trouble spots, I’ve decided to do something about it. The Problem: After hearing rave reviews from a friend about her laser treatments with Sandra Oulmas, I gave her a call to set up my first consultation. During my first appointment, Sandra asked me what I liked about my skin, what I wished was different and what I was looking to achieve during my treatments with her. I told her that I was looking to get rid of my […]

Is aging gracefully really a thing? Because I feel like just yesterday I was 23 without a wrinkle on my face or a bag under my eye. Fast forward to 8 years later and I feel like I have lines deeper than the Grand Canyon forming on my forehead and soon enough I’ll be mistaken for a raccoon with the dark circles that are invading my under eye area. Can I ask what the HELL happened in the past 8 years to make this happen? Was it because I didn’t start using that $250 face cream from Neimans when I was 22? What did I miss, what did I do wrong? Then it hit me. HELLO this is what aging looks like and it happens to the best of us. Like most women in their early 30s, seeing the first signs of aging can be difficult. We start looking different and seeing changes that we may not like. We may wear more makeup to cover the things we hate or try to cover ourselves all together with large sunglasses as much as humanly possible. These are all things I have found myself doing, especially since I am constantly on camera […]
