ALICEANNA: Made in LA As most of you may know already, Sarah and I both graduated from Radford University with BA degrees in fashion. Although I didn’t strictly follow the career path with my design degree, my friend and colleague Patrice Gentile did. The three of us practically lived in McGuffey square, the Fashion building where you would, and still do, find students diligently working away on their master pieces at all hours of the day. It was here that our creativity was built, sculpted and brought forth in to the art of fashion. These memories are something that I still hold dear to my heart. Between the blog and work, I practically live and breathe fashion; however, the creation and design process of fashion take place on another level and it’s that foundation that I miss dearly. From sketching, picking out fabric, draping and finally sewing your piece, all your hard work, sweat and tears will live forever in your garment. I know this may sound cheesy, but it is the sincere truth and Patrice can testify to this. Patrice moved to LA about 4 years ago to be closer to the fashion market and continue her line, ALICEANNA.

The day is finally here! My husband has diligently been working away for over 2 years, designing, creating and perfecting his own line of sunglasses which is finally up for sale. His brand, J.Martasand, specializes in producing quality acetate sunglasses that are handmade in the United States – which is a huge rarity within the eyewear industry. Of course I’m a little bias, but as a fashion bloggers it’s essential to have a nice collection of sunglasses. We have put these suckers through the test and they have met our expectations. The thing that we love the most about his collection is the styles are simple, clean, and timeless – think little black dress, your classic Chanel bag, a pearl necklace. I wouldn’t feel like a good wifey if I didn’t share his hard work with our lovely readers and I’ll let him speak for himself: “The inaugural #001 Limited Edition release from J. Martasand marks a beginning for many: for the brand, for your style, for our next adventure. Each piece is handcrafted stateside and individually marked with their respective release number along with a simple, yet important, reminder, “Made in USA”. We are a small but ambitious brand, […]

If you have never heard of Karla Colletto and their swimwear line, this is something you might want to read. Since both of us majored in Fashion Design and Merchandising, you can imagine how excited we were when we found out we were given the opportunity to come tour their factory and witness firsthand where the magic happens. They entire operation is done locally in Vienna, Va which gave us all the more reason to support a local designer who is already well known throughout the world and the community. We felt the creative energy as soon as we stepped foot into their facility–from the intricate detail of pattern placement and die cut, to the sewing assembly line and final product. We were already huge fans of Karla Colleto’s designs, but, after speaking with Karla and the team to hear their inspiration and the thought-put behind each individual garment, we grew an even larger appreciation for them. Karla truly makes the one-piece swimsuit sexy in a very flattering way that compliments every shape and size. Definitely a must have in our wardrobe this Summer! Take a peak at our tour of the factory and our interview with the talented designer and team behind […]

Last weekend we headed out to Bethesda for the day to spin and join Patton’s Veterans Project at Zengo Cycle to support some of our Nations Hero’s who are coping with post traumatic stress. We were so happy to be able to help raise money and awareness for such an amazing organization that is run by such wonderful people and benefitting a cause we truly believe in. Special thanks to Elizabeth Mclure for putting this event together and for Zengo Cycle for hosting us! If you have never attempted a spin class and are looking for an intense full-body workout, we highly recommend you try a class at Zengo Cycle. This is not your ordinary spin class, they turn out the lights, blast the music and really get you pumped for a killer work out. They incorporate upper body exercises while you cycle so you feel the burn everywhere. You will leave a sweaty mess, so don’t plan to meet your friends for drinks after but it will all be worth it because you will have sweat out the chips and margs you had the night before. Michelle and I wore one of our favorite new fitness brands, Pheel, to the spin class […]
