If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you love style and fashion. Maybe you love dresses, especially? Or specifically Diane von Furstenburg dresses? Can you remember when you fell in love with those dresses? Do you recall what started you on the sometimes heartbreaking and often bank account breaking fashion road? Here’s my story: I was raised in the racks of Loehmann’s (R.I.P.). This was back in the day – before we became spoiled with outlets and eBay. This was when Loehmann’s was the only (magical!) place you could buy designer clothes at a bit of a discount. Thousands of items hung squished together on enormous racks, but because it was so heavily discounted, the brands didn’t want their presence there known so designers made the store cut the tags out of their clothes. Imagine for a moment, walking into a store filled with both good stuff and garbage, and not having any obvious clues about what was Chanel and what was Anne Klein. Of course, I was six so I just ran headfirst into enormous piles of sweaters and giggled. But for my mom – the most stylish woman I’ve ever met –shopping was therapy. I remember her carefully, methodically, […]

Martasand A Night At The Arlington County Fair Funnel cakes, cotton candy and sugary lemonade are just a few reasons why we look forward to the county fair each year. It’s a time where we can throw our inhibitions out the window and indulge in all of the gluttony surrounding us. Living in walking distance of the Arlington County Fair makes it almost a cardinal sin not to visit the local staple on an annual basis. We started off with a fresh squeezed lemonade from the vintage-esque stand, it gave us just the sugar rush we were looking for and we were off to test the rides and games. We battled it out at the water game but Michelle walked away the winner toting a scary looking furry stuffed animal (which made Sarah feel better about losing). We rode the […]

The sun finally made an appearance this weekend and we were very anxious to make our way outside. There were a few chilly breezes, so we were really feeling the layering pieces for this post. I always feel most confident when adding a blazer or leather jacket to an outfit to pull together a complete, effortless look which can easily be dressed up or down (depending on the shoes and accessories, of course.) We chose flats and a statement necklace as we took Louis on a walk before heading off to brunch to enjoy the weather.

Following our last Spring post we wanted to share our favorite “White Out” shoe trends to complete the look. The below cluster features some our favorite Designer splurge shoes that walked the runway from the “ugly shoe”to the “studded shoe” followed by similar styles to help you achieve the same look but save more in the piggy bank for the rest of the “White Out” ensemble. Proenza Schouler leather shoes / Alexander Wang flat slingback shoes / Lanvin shoes / Christian Louboutin rollable flat / Valentino leather sandals / Sergio Rossi white pointed toe pumps Zara White Sandal / Jeffrey Campbell sandals / Michael Kors white leather loafer / Jeffrey Campbell white studded loafer / Sam edelman shoes / Steve Madden shoes I think the Valentino sandals might have to be a splurge this spring… sorry piggy bank. What’s your must have this Spring?? xo
