Horses have always been a big part of my life. I grew up on a small horse farm in Warrenton, Va where I was fortunate enough to learn to ride at a very young age. I think as soon as I was walking, I was on a pony. As soon as I was capable, I was helping with the barn chores and taking care of the horses. After school I would go for a ride; weekends were filled with horse shows and Summer’s full of pony camps. I have so many fond memories growing up around horses and a few painful ones too. Like the time I broke my arm after being bucked off my pony named Tony, or the time Sadie threw me into a fence. There were many many spills, feet stomped on, bitten arms but I know those unfond memories only made me stronger. I always had to get right back on after my falls and face my fear. Having horses taught me so much growing up, responsibility, a strong work ethic, competitiveness, how to be a part of a team, how to work with animals and how to be friends with them too. . A Girls Guide To Bali

Before I booked my trip to Bali, I knew pretty much zero about it. I knew it was located in Indonesia and that it’s a top honeymoon destination for newlyweds but that was pretty much it. When my close friends and designers/owners of SigaShop, an equestrian/boho clothing line that is made in Bali, asked me to go with them I said “why the hell not”. My work schedule was pretty light and I had been itching to travel, so this adventure couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I booked my trip about 3 weeks out (which I don’t recommend) and before I knew it, I was on my way to paradise. TRAVEL – GETTING TO BALI After a quick stop in LA to visit Michelle, I started the 26 hour journey to Bali by myself. I flew from LAX to Taipei and then on to Denespar, Bali. I flew EVA air on the way there and it was quiet comfortable, for 26 hours of flying. On The Farm With sigAshop

I am constantly amazed by the amount of successful women that surround me. It is both uplifting and inspiring to personally know so many women who decided to stray from the conventional 9-5 desk jobs to follow their passions and dreams. A large reason why I decided to take the plunge into self employment and start my own business and let me tell you that my life has changed dramatically and I haven’t looked back since the day I walked out of that office. When my good friends, Jennifer Gray and Brittany Hartz told me they were starting an boho/equestrian inspired clothing line called sigAshop; I knew the second they told me that it would be wildly successful because the passion and love they both have for horses and for fashion. Both things that I am also pretty crazy about! Growing up with these girls on neighboring horse farms in Warrenton, VA, we have a lot of the same values. Living in the city now, it makes me really appreciate where I came from and proud of the work ethic that farm life taught me.
