A Quick Getaway To Richmond, VA This summer has been a bit nuts for us in the travel department, every weekend has been packed to the gills with little to no down time and also little to no dog time! Not complaining at all because I love to travel but we do hate having to leave our pups at home when we hit the road! Luckily, we were able to shoot down to Richmond for a quick getaway and we were able to bring our fur babies with us! I always forget how close Richmond is to DC and wonder why we don’t make more trips to our gorgeous state capital! We were only in RVA for just over 24 hours but we made the most of every minute there. Check out my recommendations for your next trip with my favorite spots to stay, eat, drink and things to do while you are there this summer! STAY: THE GRADUATE HOTEL We checked into the new, Graduate Hotel, which was super cute and dog-friendly! A win-win for us! They gave Hank and Blanqui treats as soon as we arrived and spoiled them a few more times throughout our stay. Our babes felt right […]

Let’s face it, Summer in DC is hot. Like super freaking hot. So the less clothing I can wear on these hotter than hot days the better. I am a huge fan of wearing dresses, especially in the summer because they look super chic, are easy to wear, breezy and most importantly they keep me cool. I am in love with this red off the shoulder number from Tuckernuck not only because it has me feeling like the red flamingo dancing emoji but because it is also super flattering and comfortable. The off the shoulder look is huge right now and I have found myself adding more and more of these styles to my wardrobe. Best part is that you can wear most of these styles off both shoulders or just one if you are feeling funky. I recently wore this dress during my first on air appearance on Let’s Talk Live DC where I mixed up 4th of July inspired cocktails. I was super nervous about my segment but having the right outfit that I felt confident and comfortable in really helped keep me nerves at bay. Ok, the cocktails helped as well. I also recently wore this look at our […]

Thanksgiving is a special day of the year when we gather together with family and close friends to celebrate each other and all that we are thankful for. It’s our family traditions that make this time of year so nostalgic and memorable. Grandma making her entrance with pecan pie in hand, Mom in the kitchen putting together her infamous creamy and buttery mashed potatoes, the nephews and nieces gathered around the table decorating Aunt Peggy’s sugar cookies. These are just a few of the family traditions that I look forward to each year that bring joy to my heart. The unfortunate part is that most of these also make my belly too full to enjoy the rest of the evening. I feel like a stuffed turkey myself! So for this Thanksgiving, we were looking to trim the fat but not the fun. Hoping to skip the unpleasant evening of indigestion, we thought we would try adding a healthy twist to our favorite recipes. Our goal was to look for dishes that opt for healthier ingredients and go lighter on the bad stuff, BUT most importantly, will still please a crowd and keep alive the traditions that make this day one we look forward to each year. For an appetizer we thought […]

My husband and I took a trip down 95 to RVA to met up with some old college friends for the weekend. That, coupled with the fall weather, had me reminiscing about those care free days when I would throw on a college hoody, skinny jeans and a pair of Uggz. Yes, I know how cliché that is and I’m not going to lie…I still own a pair and still wear those Uggz when I walkthe fur-baby below 30 degrees. Don’t judge. Well as I mentioned, the overcast skies, scattered showers and brisk, cool weather in Richmond made for perfect cozy, sweater weather. My favorite go to in the fall now is a silk or denim button down shirt layered under a chunky knit sweater. This simple combo creates an effortless element to any fall look and if the weather brings a surprise warm up, you just shed a layer! I added my new joie crepe joggers to complete the look which was perfect since they are incredibly comfortable and perfect for weekends like this. We were sad to say goodbye to our RVA friends after such a relaxing weekend and, although it had me feeling nostalgic about college, I’m glad to say my […]
