Soup season is here and I’m pretty excited about it. There is nothing more satisfying on a cold, chilly night than a homemade bowl of warm soup or chowder. It has become a weekly ritual in our household to try a new recipe and save our favorites. A pot full of soup in the fridge will feed us for days. It is a cost efficient and belly filling means to stay warm on cold nights. It all began thanks to my From the Farmer delivery and receiving two heads of cabbage, that’s a lot of cabbage! So I had to think of something to do with it… sauerkraut…kimchi… nope, both too complex. Due to a slam packed week and a limited window of opportunity I decided to go with soup – chop it up, add spices, cover. Too easy. Below is a basic, easy cabbage and potatoes soup recipe. The ingredients are simple and you can edit to your preference. This one pot soup is delicious and so easy to pull together. I went with the following: 2 tablespoons of olive oil 2 carrots, diced 2 stalks celery, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 6 cups vegetable broth 2 medium gold potatoes, diced 1/2 head large […]

Did you know that your produce doesn’t usually arrive at the grocery store until a week after harvest? Shocking, right? I’m sure we all want the freshest and most nutrient-rich foods that available, so why is it so hard to obtain high quality produce? Well, I have some good news! The founders of From The Farmer have heard our cry loud and clear and created the most genius and convenient way to get farm fresh foods to us, the consumers, in record time. The creators do just what their catchphrase claims: bring produce from “Farm to Front Door”! They deliver seasonal items to your home on a weekly basis. Best of all? It”s surprisingly affordable! Baskets are completely customizable and there is no commitment—something we love since we travel so often! From the Farmer works with local farms that love what they do. You can almost taste the pride in their work in every bite. We were lucky enough to partner with this amazing local company to try out their service, taste their food and report back to you with our honest opinions—and a few recipes we came up with just for our readers. My first basket arrived at the crack of dawn last Tuesday. […]

Every chance I get, I try to make a trip to the local farmer’s market on Sundays. I can’t think of a better way to start any day than walking the market tents and scoping out the produce, all while supporting small businesses and local farmers. My hubby and I really enjoy cooking together. It’s a creative outlet for us and sometimes it is the only bonding time we have with our crazy work schedules. During our visits to the farmer’s market, we find inspiration for planning our next meal while perusing all the local fruits and veggies that they have to choose from. That night we made zucchini spaghetti with fresh, homemade tomato sauce. So tasty! If you want to try out our sauce recipe you can find it here! For this Farmer’s Market trip, I thought it would be fun to dress that part 😉 Wearing- Overalls: Frame; Top: Intermix (old, similar here); Bag: Mulberry (old; similar here); Shoes: Superga xo Michelle
