The Silver Lining Within Yourself

“Every cloud has a silver lining.” -it’s refreshing to go about life with such optimism and positivity. However it is not always the easiest, I and many others can vouch to this as well. This outfit post inspired me to dig a bit deeper and reflect on myself. I’m sure you have seen this pink wall before. It’s all over IG, we’ve featured it in the past and it won’t be the last that we do because the color is just too fun. Shooting at this location can be awkward at times when you have people constantly watching, driving by, or simply judging you as they’re taking their shots. But then a little boy and his dad approached me and wanted to take a picture with me and in that moment I was reminded of how non serious this is. I am shy and I tend to over analyze and over think anything and everything. I’m one to call out my flaws and unfortunately be more of a “glass half empty” girl at times. NYFW Spring Trend Report

As NYFW virgins, you can only imagine our excitement to even have received invites to go to some of these shows! When you are a NYFW newbie, you do not receive seats next to Anna Wintour or Chiara Ferragni (sadly) so for most of the shows, we had standing tickets or seats towards the back of the tent which made for some terrible pictures. We learned an insider tip a few days in, which was to stand in “The Pit” with all of the professional photogs, we may have looked a bit out of place in our 6″ stilettos and giant designer bags but we captured some great shots from there on out! We know it may be hard to think about Spring Fashion when we have barely entered Fall but we have to report about what we saw on the runways and what you should expect for the season to come. This may come in handy when you are going through some of your spring/summer pieces and wondering what to get rid of and what to hold on to. We arrived in NYC for New York Fashion Week and have been busy bees, snapping photos at our favorite shows, capturing the some amazing street style and taking in some pretty cool parties as well. We have so much to share with you but we thought we would give you highlights of some of our favorite moments thus far. Skirts for Every Trend this Spring

Here at 52 Thursdays we are enduring another ice storm and spending the evening with the heat turned up and dreaming about the cherry blossoms and backyard cocktail parties that are just around the corner, in six weeks if you believe Punxsutawney Phil. After clicking through the Spring 2014’s runway trends we love the fact that skirts are represented in almost every look of the season. We are also really excited about the emergence of metallic and pastel colors that seem to be a staple in the current collections and especially the pieces spiced up by fringe and pleating. High waisted skirts are well paired with flirty crop tops, while short and sporty skirts are better matched with more boxy cropped looks. So no matter what your flavor, your Spring 2014 shopping trips should yield the perfect skirt for nearly any look desire.
