Coffee, Clothes, and Photographs This post is very long overdue. About a year ago I was approached by a college student named Emma to take my photos. She asked me to meet her at a coffee shop in DC and that we would take some photos for her portfolio and for my blog. I was optimistic as I have done a few of these meet ups where the sessions don’t quite go as I had planned. But things were different with Emma, she was a bit shy but when she got behind the camera, the girl knew what she wanted and she made it happen. After getting our first set of images back, I knew that I had found my girl. Not only did she get my esthetic, she knew how to tell a story through the images. I admit, blogging is a strange occupation. I know that taking photos of my brunch before letting my friends eat can get slightly annoying for everyone involved and I get my fair share of funny looks as I perfectly stage my latte for a snap. It’s also pretty strange to plan out photo shoots where I change into 3 or 4 different […]

What’s your go to when on the go? For me it’s an effortless blazer, comfortable pants and some great accessories to complete the look. A look so simple that can easily be dressed up or down which is perfect for those days you desire comfort and functionality during the day but throw on some great heels and clutch and you are set for the evening. If you are like me, with a full time job and an attempt at a social life then you understand what little time there is between when you get off work to when you would like to meet up with friends. Let’s be honest we all try to make it to Happy Hour because it really is the golden hour/s in the day. The anticipated hours of relaxation and the feeling of accomplishment finishing the work day while celebrating with good friends over half priced, refreshing drinks is everything. Unfortunately that Happy Hour is just so inconveniently early!! So why waist time changing for the occasion. Instead plan the perfect desk to drinks look ahead of time to ensure you maximize that Happy Hour to the fullest. The ultimate on the go outfit that is work appropriate, chic and effortlessly put […]

What goes together better than peas and carrots or peanut butter and jelly? Crochet and Coffee, obviously. Well I’m partially kidding but honestly, I don’t think there is a thing out there that wouldn’t pair well with iced coffee in the summer time. This summer has been pretty darn hot so when I need a pick me up, iced coffee is definitely my go to. I love a good iced coffee from Starbucks but when I am out in DC, I love discovering boutique coffee shops because usually their cold brew cannot be beat. My ahhmazing photographer, Emma Weiss, and I stumbled upon The Coffee Bar near Logan Circle during a recent shoot and I instantly fell in love. Not just for their genius brews but also for their electric and quaint vibe. A must try if you are in the Logan Circle neighborhood! I have been loving crochet pieces this summer and snagged this crochet shift dress at a recent Zara sale because the price could not be beat (under $40) and it was perfect for those end of summer parties/happy hours. I have been wearing it non-stop since I purchased it and will probably be wearing it until to fall if […]

It’s officially Poncho Season. It starts at the very beginning of fall when we are all eager for the very first day temperatures drop even the slightest. We pull out the tall boots, layering pieces and throw on our ponchos for a cozy, comfortable outerwear look. But then it gets colder, and colder … and we soon loose track of the days as our ponchos become layering pieces underneath our layering pieces. Eventually they just become stylish indoor wrap blankets, or better yet a fashionable snuggie. That is until temperatures become acceptable to wear outside again as a warm throw. These ponchos from Kensie are our absolute favorite pieces this winter because they are super soft and can be worn with everything from our pjs to our snow boots! They were the perfect layering pieces for our time out on the farm and you can be sure we will both be packing them along when we head home for the holidays! Michelle is wearing- Poncho (Kensie) Top (Enza Costa); Denim (Joe’s) Socks (Nordstrom); Boots (Hunter Boots). Sarah is wearing- Poncho (Kensie); Top (Urban Outfitters); Denim (H&M); Socks (Nordstrom); Boots (Sorel). All photography by Lauren Gay Wishing you all a happy holiday season, from our families […]
