Something festive I hope! If you are still struggling for some simple yet fun ideas for your patriotic picnic or backyard bbq, here are a few cocktails that I came up with that will help you celebrate America in style. You can also catch me making these cocktails News Channel 8 during the “Let’s Talk Live ” portion of the show!

Lately I have been on a total Moscow Mule kick. The steamy weather rolls in and immediately I am reaching for anything cold and refreshing and for some reason the Moscow Mule always does the trick to cool me down. While I love the taste of the traditional mule, I have been testing out different spins on this tried and true cocktail. After some late night recipe testing (poor me, I know), I came up with probably the best thing that has ever been created in my kitchen. Please let me introduce you to my proud new creation, the Watermelon Mule. Not only is this cocktail refreshing and delicious, I have found that the presentation is also a huge crowd pleaser! Serve up this yummy cocktail in a mini watermelon cup and people will mistake you for a younger much hipper Martha Stuart. I like to make them Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer to give it a boozier ginger kick. Best part is the fun doesn’t end there. Make a little extra and pour the liquid into popsicle molds to make boozy ice pops. Genius, I know. COCKTAIL INGREDIENTS – Serves 2 (double if you are making ice pops too) 2 mini watermelons […]

Summer is almost here which means it’s time for baseball, pool parties, barbecues and beer. Lots of beer. Summertime in the city can get hot and seriously humid, so finding activities that will keep you cool is definitely a must. I have rounded up my top places to shop, eat and my favorite things to do when summer strikes in the DMV. Shop: The DC area has tons of shopping to choose from but if you are looking for a more unique shopping/culinary experience, head on over to Union Market in DC. This eclectic market is made up of local artisans, food and retail vendors and amazing restaurants as well. Make a day out of it and have lunch at Takorean, a cocktail at Buffalo & Bergen, pick up some luxurious and all natural skincare from Follain and then peruse one of my favorite local home shops, Salt and Sundry. Also be on the lookout for pop up events and local artisan shopping upstairs at Dock 5. Eat: One of my favorite little areas in the DMV area is Del Ray, which is located in Alexandria, VA. Even though it is only about 10 minutes from the big city, it […]
