April showers bring ma’ baby! Yes, yes … we all know the saying “April Showers Bring May Flowers”, but this year April Showers will bring something a little more special … ma’ BABY! I have been waiting for this month to show face for what has felt like forever, and now that it’s here it’s crazy to think that I get to meet my sweet angel in just a week or maybe days, who knows?! Like most women carrying their child for over 9 months, 39 weeks and 2 days to be exact, I’m more than ready to loose this belly and start the next chapter in this book of life … being a mom! Looking back at these photos taken just a little over a month ago, it’s crazy to see how much I’ve grown in my last trimester. I can’t even describe the feeling of un comfort I’m in now. I actually pushed back my first day of maternity leave because the thought of sitting or laying around waiting for her arrival just gives me anxiety. My Secret to Dressing While Expecting

I have to tell you my secret to dressing while expecting. I haven’t purchased too many maternity clothes. I own a few maternity jeans and dresses and layering tops that are long enough to cover this growing belly but for the most part I have continued to buy regular clothes that I can wear now and later, just being cautious of the fit. What is my secret? Jackets, blazers, bombers and vests! It’s the easiest way to stay on trend and relevant. Buy the basics that will help you get through your pregnancy but finding the right layering pieces will make your look feel more elevated and put together. Plus, it helps hide any unwanted back areas that can be tended to after baby 😜 My go to outfits are a comfortable pair of maternity jeans, long tank and blazer or a stretchy fitted dress complete with a bomber or leather on or over the shoulders. Light Fall Layering

I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad that the coldest southern California gets is the low 50’s. The change of seasons and cold weather tied to the holidays this time of year really carries a special sentiment and makes me miss being back home on the East Coast. I suppose when I start hearing about the cold, bitter days and slushy roads with predictions for more snow, then maybe I will feel a bit more excited about making my way to the beach in the middle of February like when I first moved here. But for now I will just have to partake in fall dressing with light layering and knee high boots any chance I get. Layering a white or denim button down under a shirt always elevates your outfit and gives that unexpected take on a basic top. I love popping a crisp collar on top of another texture for a sophisticated, clean layering which is perfect for achieving a cozy look with out being too hot.
